Mr. Sidney Alfred “Donny” Burke, age 70, died on Saturday, October 19th 2024 at Ogeechee Area Hospice inpatient facility in Statesboro. Donny was born on August 15th 1954 in Millen, GA to the late Henry Poppins Burke and Ruby Virginia Johnson Burke. He was raised in Jenkins County and graduated from Jenkins County High School in 1973. Donny was a lifelong farmer and avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Donny was also preceded in death by his siblings, Faye Boykin, Ray Burke, James Albert Burke, Nellie Jean Lane, and Clara Ann Burke.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Geraline W. Burke, his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Bert Cardona, his grandchildren, Kale, Tyler, Victoria, and Zachariah Cardona, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family gives special thanks to his caregiver, Brett Burke, for his care and dedication over the last few years.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at Ogeechee Free Will Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 3:00pm with Pastors Edwin Taylor and Butch Taylor officiating.
Interment will be at Millen City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Kim Burke, Allen Burke, Terry Williams Jr., Marvin Williams, Alan Herrin, and Eddie Smith.
