Michael A. Chatman

January 2, 1962 - January 24, 2025

Michael Anthony Chatman, born January 2, 1962, in Bronx, NY, passed away at the Heritage Inn Health and Rehabilitation Center in Statesboro, GA on January 24, 2025.

He was the son of Christine Chatman, Woodrow Chatman, and his stepmother, Pearl Chatman, all of whom preceded him in death, along with his eldest brother, Kenneth Chatman.

Michael, affectionately known as Mike, had a natural gift for fixing anything, especially cars, a passion he shared with his father. A talented mechanic, he found joy in working under the hood, bringing engines back to life. Whether he was playing dominoes, blasting his favorite loud music, or cracking jokes, Mike’s presence was always lighthearted and full of humor.

He is survived by his daughter, Christine J. Chatman Granger (Courtney), and his beloved grandchildren, Brooklyn and Braylin, who brought him endless joy. He also leaves behind his sisters, Yvonne Chatman-Robinson (Harris) and Renee Chatman Kitchens (Tony), as well as two nieces, Avita Lewis and Maria Brown, a friend turned brother, DeAngelo Baldwin (Ieshia) and a host of cousins, extended family, and cherished friends.

Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and ability to fix just about anything. His love for cars, music, and family will forever live on in the memories of those who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025, 12 noon, in the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill's Mortuary, Inc.

Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
