Mary Nell Brinson Pierce Evans passed away Tues, October 15, 2024 in Statesboro, GA.
Mrs. Evans was born February 9, 1929 in Jenkins Co (Millen) to Loyd and Marie Brinson and proudly was one of the few remaining Screven County High School graduates of the Class of 1947. She and her second husband Joe Evans, Jr. were in the same graduating class and were married after the death of her husband, Stanton Pierce, Sr.
Mary Nell worked most of her life starting with running an egg route in the early 1960s when living in Screven County on the Pierce Dairy property. She worked at Sylvania Elementary as a teacher’s assistant and loved all the children. She and Joe worked together with their logging business and all knew Mrs. Mary was the boss. Mrs. Evans worked as a cashier at KJ’s Market until 2020 and loved seeing all her friends come into the grocery store.
Mary Nell (Nanny) enjoyed sewing and making baby blankets and holiday crafts for her friends and family. She enjoyed time with her neighbor Shirley and family (Preston, Brenda and Matt Brinson). Many thanks to them and Val and Lagina Evans for their care and companionship. Her sister in law Wanda Brinson and her family checked in on Mary Nell and enjoyed sharing memories of Christmas family gatherings.
Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her brothers L.M., Charles (Hoot) and Cail and her son, Stan.
Nanny is survived by her son Ken and daughter in love Susan and grandsons Wade and Adam (Harley) and great granddaughter Blair Selena and another precious baby girl expected in March 2025.
She enjoyed flying to Louisville to spend time visiting with her Kentucky family and their friends during the holidays and special family events.
There will be no services per Mrs. Evans’ request.
