Deacon Doy Johnson

Deacon Doy Johnson was born on February 8, 1956, to John Henry and Irene Lee Johnson. He received his formal education in the Bulloch County School System.

He accepted Christ as his lord and savior at an early age and remained active in his faith until his health declined. He was a member of the Whitesville Full Gospel Worship Center under the leadership of Bishop Larry and Pastor Gwendolyn Jones. Deacon Johnson served on the board of deacons and worked in various capacities within the church. He was loved by all.

Deacon Johnson was formerly employed by Metacrafts of Savannah, GA, where he retired after over thirty-five years of service. He was skilled in general repair and maintenance and often assisted others with such tasks.

Deacon Johnson also enjoyed singing and participated in different church programs in Statesboro and surrounding counties. He had such a way about himself that would leave you with a smile and laughter.
On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, he passed away at the Ogeechee Hospice Inpatient Facility. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, one brother and five sisters.

He leaves to always cherish his memories, his devoted and loving wife, Helen Lipsey Johnson, Statesboro, GA; five children, Barbara Prince, Statesboro, GA, Ronnie (Daphney) Jones, Clarksville, TN, Carl (Gwen) Jones, Pembroke, GA, Virginia (Larry) Cone, and Charles (Brachel) Jones, both of Statesboro, GA; two sisters, Shirlene Lemons, Catonsville, MY, Blanche King, Jacksonville, NC; a brother, Henry Johnson, Orlando, FL; a host of special granddaughters, grandsons, nieces, nephews, great grands, a host of loving relatives and friends.

A public viewing for Deacon Johnson, will be held from 4 P.M. to & P.M., on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the funeral home.

The funeral service for Deacon Doy Johnson will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Whitesville Full Gospel Worship Center, Pastor Gwendolyn Jones, pastor, Rev. Jamie Edenfield, presiding and the Bishop Larry Jones, Officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastside Cemetery.
