United Way offering needs-based scholarships for local high school seniors

In an effort to support the educational aspirations of local students, United Way of Southeast Georgia is offering needs-based scholarships for graduating seniors at Portal High, Southeast Bulloch High, and Statesboro High schools.

These scholarships aim to ease the financial burden of higher education and provide students with the opportunity to pursue their career goals. The program includes two scholarship awards each at Portal High, Southeast Bulloch High, and Statesboro High.

The award is $500 for a student attending a technical or vocational college and $1,000 for a student attending a college or university.

United Way of Southeast Georgia has long been an advocate for education at every stage, investing in initiatives that range from free books for early learners to meal programs and academic support for school-age children. Their continued commitment to educational opportunities ensures that students not only graduate but are also prepared to thrive in the workforce.

“At United Way, we believe that success starts with quality education,” said Carey Cassedy, United Way of Southeast Georgia Executive Director. “From early childhood literacy programs to after-school tutoring and college scholarships, we are committed to providing students with the tools they need to succeed.”

Graduating seniors interested in applying for the scholarship should contact their school counselor for application details or visit https://unitedwaysega.org/high-school-scholarship-application.

The deadline to apply is Friday, March 7, 2025. For more information about United Way’s education programs and community initiatives, visit their website or follow them on social media.
