Tormenta FC signs Statesboro's Isaac Bittner to professional contract

Statesboro native Isaac Bittner has been signed to a professional contract reserved for academy players and has been added to the active roster for the remainder of the 2024 season.

The 17-year-old goalkeeper has become just the tenth player to receive a USL Academy contract. The USL Academy contract enables Bittner to train and play in matches with the professional USL League One men’s team while maintaining collegiate eligibility.

“In line with our greater vision, we want to always tap into our academy to support our first team. Young Isaac has put in some nice performances and understands the values of our club,” Head Coach of the USL League One team Ian Cameron said. “He should be proud that he’s the next in a line of academy prospects who will aid us in our goal of winning a championship.”

Bittner, a Statesboro High School student, has played with the Tormenta FC Academy for five years. The goalkeeper spent the past two summers on the USL Academy roster, exhibiting leadership and growth with each passing game. Bittner also plays with Tormenta’s  MLS Next team as a goalkeeper.

“If there were one word to describe Isaac it would be dedication,” Head Coach of the USL Academy Drew DeJohn said. “He has shown his willingness to work on his craft, day in and out continually, and I couldn’t be more excited to see him develop by learning from our first team staff and players.”
