A Statesboro man is in custody following an armed robbery at the Quality Inn on South Main Street earlier this week.
The Statesboro Police Department (SPD) responded to a call at 9:11 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 regarding an armed robbery at the hotel, located at 230 South Main Street. The hotel clerk reported that a man entered the office and demanded cash before fleeing the scene.
Detectives acted swiftly, towing a vehicle believed to be connected to the suspect. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered critical evidence, and video surveillance from the Quality Inn further supported the investigation.
These efforts led to the identification of 41-year-old Frank Mitchell, a resident of Highway 301 South, as the suspect.
An arrest warrant for one count of armed robbery was issued, and on December 13, two SPD patrol officers spotted Mitchell on Fair Road. He was apprehended without incident and transported to the Bulloch County Jail, where he remains pending further judicial proceedings.
The SPD is encouraging anyone with additional information about this case to contact Detective Dustin Hardin at 912-764-9911. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the department's website at statesboropd.com by using the "Submit a Tip" link.
