The Statesboro Jaycees hosted a successful Miss Statesboro Jaycees pageant on June 10th.
The pageant was started in 2021 at Bulloch County/Georgia Southern Relay for Life. The Statesboro Jaycees, an organization made up of young professionals who work together to make a difference in their communities, brought the pageant back as a singular event to help raise money for local nonprofits.
The pageant, organized by Pageant Director Alexis Durrence and Events Director Bailey Brinson, was a fabulous event. The judges for the pageant were Bendi West, Brandon Moore, and Jill Pittman. The auditor was Moriah Dunn.
The overall queen for age 0-9 was Lucy Kate Ross, the daughter of Ben and Lauren Ross.
The overall queen for age 10+ was Claiborne Carter Jones, the daughter of Ashley and Dana Jones.
The People’s Choice winner was Dani Grace Willis, the daughter of Avery and Autumn Willis.
90% of the proceeds from the pageant were split between each overall queen's charity of choice. Lucy Kate chose The Camilla Foundation, and Claiborne chose The Princess Program through Fostering Bulloch. Each organization was awarded a check for $690 from the proceeds collected through the pageant.
"I want to thank everyone for all of the hard work they did before, during, and after the pageant. I also want to thank all of the pageant participants and their parents for coming out and supporting some great organizations," Christy Kennedy, 2023 Statesboro Jaycees President, said.
