Statesboro Family YMCA offers enriching Afterschool Program

The Statesboro Y offers an afterschool program throughout the year as well as camps during school breaks.

The Statesboro Family YMCA has a licensed after-school program that runs the entire school year Monday-Friday from 2pm-6pm.

Families pay a one-time registration fee of $65, and weekly fees for YMCA members are $40. Weekly fees for nonmembers are $60.

The staff at the YMCA provides transportation to the YMCA, homework help, an afternoon snack, and fun and enriching activities. The afterschool program additionally features craft time, PE time, and even STEM and music activities for the children. The program is licensed through the State of Georgia, and staff are CPR and First Aid certified.

The afterschool program recently hosted their open house for the public to see its classrooms in person at the Statesboro YMCA's "Back-to-School Bash" event on Friday, July 28.

Executive Branch Director at the Statesboro Family YMCA, Hannah Beggs, said, "This is our second year of having a licensed after-school program. Last year we were booked. This year we'll have about 60 spots available for our afterschool program. We also accept government subsidies and are very big on not turning kids away if they are struggling to afford afterschool care. Families may also fill out income-based assistance forms to get scholarships to attend the afterschool program. We are very excited to host an amazing afterschool program at the Statesboro Family YMCA this year!"

Registration for the Statesboro YMCA's afterschool program can be found online HERE, or you can call (912) 225-1962 for more information. You can also find information about camps for school breaks and holidays.

The Statesboro Family YMCA is located at 409 Clairborne Ave., Statesboro, GA 30458.
