Following a recent announcement, Badcock Home Furniture & More is closing all its stores nationwide as part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. This news affects the Statesboro location, which has been a staple in the community since 1984 and is locally owned by Mike Funk.
The bankruptcy filing, which also includes Top 100 retailer Conn’s HomePlus, was announced on July 23. Just two days later, both companies began going-out-of-business sales across their combined showrooms, a move following Conn’s acquisition of Badcock in December 2023 from Franchise Group.
The Statesboro store was informed of its closure on July 24 and will be selling all inventory within the next 12 weeks. The liquidation sales, managed by B. Riley Retail Solutions, LLC, feature discounts of 30-50% off on a wide range of in-store and online merchandise, including name-brand furniture, home electronics, and appliances. Store furnishings, fixtures, and equipment are also available for sale.
"Conn's and Badcock have served as a go-to destination for its loyal customers' home goods necessities for over a century," stated Tim Shilling, President of B. Riley Retail Solutions. "This sale is an opportunity for shoppers to purchase a wide array of quality furnishings for every room in the home, including brand name appliances and electronics at unprecedented discounts. Inventory will be available for a limited time only – everything must go."
Customers can expect a broad assortment of affordable home furniture, appliances, consumer electronics, office furnishings, accessories, and seasonal items from leading global brands. Top-selling items include refrigerators, ranges and stovetops, dishwashers, washers and dryers, TVs, home theater audio and video electronics, fitness equipment, smart home accessories, and various computer and gaming accessories, just in time for back-to-school shopping.
As the liquidation sales begin, shoppers are encouraged to visit early to take advantage of the best selection of merchandise. All sales are final, with no returns or exchanges permitted for purchases made during this store closing event. Online shopping is available at www.badcock.com.
