A man has been flown by Air Evac Medical Helicopter to a hospital in Savannah after being shot in Statesboro on Sunday evening, July 9, 2023.
Bulloch County 911 dispatched Statesboro Police Department (SPD) Officers and Bulloch County EMS Paramedics to a report of a shooting at The Parks At Lanier, 210 Lanier Drive on Sunday, July 9 at 7:57 PM. The Parks At Lanier is directly across from Paulson Stadium.
The first SPD officers on the scene confirmed that a male had been shot. Bulloch County EMS Paramedics transported the victim from the scene to the Air Evac Medical Helicopter base at the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fairgrounds on Hwy. 67. The man is believed to be in his late 20's.
The Air Evac Flight Team then flew him to the trauma center at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah.
Mike Broadhead, Statesboro Police Chief confirmed the shooting and said that the victims injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The suspects in the shooting remain at large at the time this story was published.
Chief Broadhead said officers believe at this time that the shooting was a result of a personal dispute between the parties.
Statesboro Police Department and Bulloch County Sheriff's Departments K-9 teams responded to the scene and are attempting to track the suspects who fled the scene.
Citizens will see a heavy police presence in the area over the next few hours.
Statesboro Police Department Detectives are handling the investigation.
