Golfers invited to support local charities at SEGA Golf Club Tournament

Golf enthusiasts and community benefactors alike are invited to swing into action for a worthy cause as the annual SEGA Charity Golf Tournament returns to the beautiful Georgia Southern University Golf Course on Friday, May 9, 2025.

Organized and coordinated annually since 2015 by Statesboro hotelier Andy Bhula and his family, through the SEGA (Southeast GA) Golf Club, this event has become a cornerstone of local fundraising efforts. This year promises another fun-filled day on the links with the ultimate goal of making a significant impact on local charities.

Participants can look forward to a day packed with golf and camaraderie, all for a good cause. The $125 per player fee, or $500 for a team of four, includes a round of golf, a delicious lunch, and a celebratory dinner. Players will also receive free gifts and be eligible to win various prizes throughout the tournament.

The day's schedule is set to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone:

  • 11:30 am: Lunch Served
  • 1:00 pm: Shotgun Start
  • 6:00 pm: Dinner Celebration

What truly sets this tournament apart is its unwavering commitment to charity. All proceeds generated from the tournament are donated directly to local charitable organizations.

Over the past seven years, the SEGA Golf community has demonstrated incredible generosity, donating nearly $60,000 to a diverse range of causes. Beneficiaries have included critical services like Red Cross Relief, Susan G. Komen for the Cure (including a notable $6,000 donation in honor of a local community member), local soup kitchens such as Feed the Boro and Screven County Soup Kitchen, Tunnel to Tower Foundation, Safe Haven for women's shelter, St. Joseph Candler for women's mammography funds, Alzheimer's Association, Gilliard and Company, Tattnall Cares, Glennville Fire Dept, and support for local individuals battling serious illnesses like ovarian cancer.
