On Saturday, July 19, the Statesboro Community Youth Network (the City of Statesboro’s Youth Commission) and the United Way of Southeast Georgia will host a Collaborative Conversation on Youth After-school Programs.
They invite community members and representatives from youth serving organizations to share concerns, ideas, and contribute to a productive conversation on how the community might work together to best support our youth during out-of-school time.
“We recognize that the closure of the Boys and Girls Club creates a gap in after-school and summer programs, particularly for low-income families.” said Dr. Kristina Patterson, Co-chair of the Statesboro Community Youth Network. “We also know that there are so many community members who care about our youth and some wonderful youth-serving organizations in Statesboro. We feel optimistic that the community can come up with some creative solutions for working together to fill this gap and wanted to create the space to start those conversations.”
The Collaborative Conversation will take place on July 19, 2pm-4pm at the Statesboro Regional Library, 124 S. Main St. Please come out and join the conversation, discuss concerns, and brainstorm solutions for how to best support our community’s youth and their families.
