Sherwin promoted to associate head volleyball coach

Georgia Southern head volleyball coach Chad Willis announced today that Taylor Sherwin has been promoted to associate head coach.

"It's an exciting day for me professionally and personally to announce Taylor Sherwin's promotion to associate head coach," said Willis. "Taylor is an instrumental piece of our program's culture, a driving force in student-athlete and staff development on and off the court. Taylor's commitment to our vision, her passion for people and service alongside her loyalty and friendship consistently influence our program in a positive way."

Sherwin is entering her fifth year in Statesboro, and Georgia Southern has recorded back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2012-13. She helped recruit Ashlyn Lovett, the 2021 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, and Emily Jarome, the 2022 Newcomer of the Year. Among Sherwin's on-court duties is training the setters and middles. Two Eagle middles have earned All-Sun Belt honors, and Eagle setters have won Sun Belt Setter of the Week accolades four times during her tenure.

"I knew when Chad asked me to come join him and Efrain at Georgia Southern, we as a staff would build something special here," said Sherwin. "I'm fortunate to be surrounded by incredible people every single day that push me to be the best version of myself. Georgia Southern is home, and I'm beyond grateful for the opportunity to be an associate head coach with this staff and team. There is much to be excited about as we continue to recruit, train and compete for Sun Belt championships while building great leaders on and off the court! Hail Southern!!"

Sherwin was a three-time captain and most valuable player during a four-year playing career at Ohio State. The setter was a 2014 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America honorable mention after a Sweet 16 NCAA run.

She spent the 2015 season as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Minnesota, and the Golden Gophers finished the 2015 campaign with a 30-5 overall record, falling to Texas in a four-set match in the national semifinal. She spent three seasons as an assistant with Willis at Appalachian State before joining him in Statesboro.

"I am fortunate to be surrounded every day by quality people who are dedicated to leading, equipping and empowering our student-athletes to be the best versions of themselves in everything they do," said Willis. "Taylor is a part of our family, and I'm eager to watch her continued growth and the impact she has on our program as we pursue excellence."
