The Portal Panthers softball team got back in the win column with a 16-0 win over the McIntosh County Academy on Tuesday. The Panthers snapped what was a 3-game losing streak with their win.
The Panthers wasted no time getting the game over with, as it lasted only 3 innings. The Panthers used an 11-run first inning to jump out on the Buccaneers. Portal had no issue putting the ball in play and getting to the base. Every player was a contributor to the team getting back on the winning side of things. The highlight of the day was a 2-run homer by Rebie Grace Plyant.
Assistant Coach Brantley Spence spoke what this win does for his team's morale after the recent skid. "We have a really young team, so getting a win like this gets your confidence up and gets you going," Spence said.
Portal's record improves to 3-5 on the season. The girls have played some very tough opponents recently, and Assistant coach Spence talked about how that has helped the team grow.
"It helps us work on the mental side of the game," said Spence. "Just being more mentally tough and prepared with what we are doing."
