After graduating on a Thursday evening, Aiden Lewis and his family were in a car driving seven and a half hours the next morning to Elizabeth City, North Carolina because Lewis had a two-game series with the River City Skippers 48 hours later.
The River City Skippers are a team in the Old North State League, which is a collegiate summer league that was created as a plan to unite all college summer leagues.
According to Lewis’s father, Benji Lewis, “This turned out to be a great experience for the lefty out of Statesboro.”
“Aiden is excited about getting reps and fine-tuning his craft before coming back home to pitch for Coach Jason Mock and his staff at EGSC in Swainsboro,” Benji Lewis said.
In 4 innings pitched, he had nine strikeouts, only walked two batters, and allowed zero runs.
Recently, the RC Skippers got their first ONSL win on June 6, 2024, in a dramatic fashion. Trailing for nearly the entire game, the resilient hometown nine scored three runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to overcome an 8-6 deficit and post a 9-8 win over the visiting Tarboro River Bandits.
