Four more Portal High athletes ink their committment to play at the next level

PORTAL – Congratulations to four more Portal High athletes who inked their commitment to play their respective sports at the collegiate level.

Raashonda Khalil - Brewton Parker

Kasen Evans - Brewton Parker

Nehemiah Reyes - Shorter College

Joseph Thomas - University of Arkansas - Little Rock

Khalil and Evans both have committed to Brewton Parker. In 2024, the Brewton Parker Men’s Team finished third overall in Southern States Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The women’s team finished seventh overall.

In this past season, Khalil and Evans helped the Portal High Panthers finish sixth overall for the women and fourth overall for the men in the GHSA State Championships. Khalil went to the GHSA State Championships and finished second in the women’s long jump. Evans had a great showing at the GHSA State Championships as well as he finished fourth in the boys 400 meter, first in the boys 4x200 meter, and third in the boys 4x400 meter relays.

Nehemiah Reyes has had a great senior season helping the Panthers finish third overall in their 2024 season. Reyes is an explosive athlete who will mesh well with the Hawks.

Joseph Thomas had a great senior season with the Panthers. In his tenure as a Panther, he’s scored over 1700 career points and averaged 15.9 points per game. Thomas has played on the varsity squad all four years of his high school career and in every year either made it to the Sweet 16 or Elite Eight in the postseason. Thomas was a part of the Fab Five, an all senior group, and has helped bring history to the Portal Panther Men’s basketball team. He will be attending the University of Arkansas in Little Rock where he can help bring great contributions to that team.

Congratulations to all the signees. We know you’ll do great things at the next level.
