Bulloch Academy Gators get eighth straight win with shutout performance over the St. Andrew’s Lions

Wilmington Island, Savannah, GA – The Bulloch Academy Gators defeated the St. Andrews Lions in a dominant 55-0 shutout performance. With this win, the Gators are now undefeated in overall play and region play (8-0, 2-0).

As the first quarter kicked off, it quickly became clear that the Gators were ready to dominate. However, their first few plays were marked by a couple setbacks out of the gate with two false penalties that resulted in a loss of ten-yards. It was a sign of the struggles, but that didn’t hinder the Gators.

The Gators responded swiftly as junior running back Danye Garvin charged through the Lions' defense, showcasing his speed and determination. Another false start by the Gators didn’t impede on their momentum, and Parker Chance surged to the four-yard line, setting the stage for the first touchdown. Ike Hubbard seized the opportunity, powering through the line to score, igniting the home crowd.

With the Gators' defense tightening like a vise, they forced the Lions into a quick punt, taking possession at their own 43-yard line. Sophomore quarterback Sam Hubbard executed a clever keeper, gaining five yards, and Danye Garvin continued to impress, moving the chains deep into Lions territory. Just over five minutes into the quarter, Garvin danced into the end zone for the Gators' second touchdown, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

But the Gators weren’t done. After a string of solid plays, Ike Hubbard found the end zone for his second time of the night, extending the lead. A missed extra point did little to dampen the spirits of the visiting team. The Lions, desperate for a spark, fumbled a punt, which the Gators capitalized on with another touchdown from Garvin. The score ballooned to 34-0 as the first quarter came to a close, a chilling indication of what was to come for the Lions.

The second quarter began with the Gators continuing their offensive onslaught. Danye Garvin was relentless, churning up yardage as he pushed the ball to the Lions' 26-yard line. A brief false start did nothing to halt the momentum, as Shamar Jenkins scored his first touchdown, leaving the Lions reeling. Connor Perry added to the Gators’ defensive dominance with an interception, further sealing the fate of their opponents.

As the scoreboard flickered to life, showing a staggering 48-0 at halftime, the Gators had not only showcased their offensive prowess but also demonstrated an impenetrable defense.

The third quarter opened with a face-mask penalty against the Gators, a minor setback that would soon be forgotten. Keonte Mayner made a spectacular interception, giving the Gators the ball back in prime position. Rocco Reiss capped off the drive with a touchdown, pushing the lead to 55-0 and leaving the Lions desperate for a miracle that never came.

As the fourth quarter unfolded, the Gators maintained their firm grip on the game. A pitch fumble from the Lions was quickly recovered by the Gators, and the ground game continued to churn out impressive yardage. With each play, it was evident: the Gators were in complete control. As the final whistle blew, the scoreboard reflected the true nature of the contest: Gators 55, Lions 0. The crowd erupted in cheers, celebrating a night of unmatched skill, teamwork, and determination.

Head coach Aaron Phillips was happy with what his team did tonight in their commanding win over the Lions.

“In the first half we did exactly what I wanted to do,” Phillips said. “I wanted to come out and be physical and run the football. We were able to hit some play action passes too which is something that we wanted to put on film and we did a good job there.”

As a coach, Phillips said he is never satisfied with a win. He feels as if his team still has a lot to work on and he told his team that they were going to practice even harder going into this rivalry matchup against Pinewood Christian Academy next Friday, October 25 in the Swamp.

“We’re going to continue to grind because even though it’s the last regular season game, we don’t feel our season is even close to being over yet,” said Phillips
