Walter Thomas Haralson

Mr. Walter Thomas “Tom” Haralson, age 87, died Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Comer, Georgia and lived in South Georgia in the Hartsfield Community. He joined the US Navy at the age of 17, where he completed his high school education, serving from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1964. Tom moved to Statesboro in 1965, where he began his career as an agriculture inspector for the federal government for 10 years, he changed careers and began working with ITT Grinell until retiring in 1997. Tom continued to work part-time with Franklin Chevrolet as a driver and a security officer for several years. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Tom enjoyed fishing, junking and attending auctions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Thomas Haralson and Edna Alice McClain Haralson; his wife, Nellie Jean Lee Haralson; three brothers and a sister.

Surviving are a daughter, Melanie Haralson of Statesboro; a grandson Thomas Staggs (Brianna Phillips) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a sister, Betty Ford of Athens, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.
