Mr. Richard T. Underwood, age 76, died October 1st, 2024, at his home in Twin City.
Mr. Richard was born in Bulloch County on October 28th, 1947. He worked at St Jospeh’s Memorial / Candler Hospital as the director of maintenance for 36 years until his retirement. Upon his retirement he went to work for Metter Hospital for a year where he met his fiancé Kay “Allane” Milner. Richard also was a member of the Twin City Lions club. Richard enjoyed working out in the yard, fishing, and helping those in need of help. He also enjoyed weekend visits with Allane to Shug and Gail Underwoods along with spending time with his future grandchildren Sara Milner, Bennett Milner, Brooks Milner, and Britt Milner.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, William James Underwood, E.D. Underwood, Oree Wright, Robert Underwood, Johnnie Underwood, Earl Underwood, Shirley Underwood, Calvin Underwood, Janette Manning, Hubert Underwood, Junior Underwood, and Earnie Underwood.
The family will receive visitors on Monday from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at Joiner Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The funeral service will follow on Monday at 3:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Harold Piet officiating.
Interment will be at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joey Milner, John Underwood, Stacy Underwood, Richard Underwood, Greg Brown, and Matt Bristoe.
