Richard James Stanoff ("JIM”) passed away March 9, 2025 at his home in Brooklet, Georgia. Jim died in his sleep after a short battle with lung cancer.
Born January 31, 1936 in Massillon, Ohio his parents were the late Pete and Juanita Stanoff. Jim led an active life, which included a 20-year tour of duty in the United States Air Force where he worked as an electronics technician for several years. He ended his career with USAF in the recruiting field in which he earned many accolades from the Air Force. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he began his second career with Allstate Insurance Company becoming a regional manager in the Reno Nevada market.
Upon leaving Allstate Jim started a third career as the day manager of the American Bowling Congress national bowling tournament. Jim traveled around the United States at the various venues of the tournament eventually becoming the ABC Masters tournament emcee. Jim left the national tournament and came to Statesboro where he focused his attention on the local bowling community and became a much loved figure there.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother and father, a sister, Sophie Palladini (2015), a brother Phillip Stanoff, and his daughter Melodie Gardner (April 2024).
Surviving are his fiancée Esther Morgan, son Robert W.Stanoff, and his wife Shari, son-in-law Gene Gardener, granddaughters, Alicia and Cathy Gardner, great-grand daughters, Zoee, Mackenzie, and April, great- grandson, Anthony, and great- great granddaughter, Peighton Gardner.
A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at Joiner Anderson Funeral Home located at 502 Miller Street Ext., Statesboro, Ga. on Thursday, March 13, 2025 starting at 6:00PM and ending at 8:00PM.
