Kathryn Elizabeth Waters

January 31, 1959  -  April 17, 2025

Kathryn Elizabeth “Kathy” Waters, age 66, went home to heaven on Thursday, April 17th, 2025. Born on January 31st, 1959, in Statesboro, Georgia, Kathy spent most of her life in Bulloch County and was a proud graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School, Class of 1977.

Kathy dedicated many years of service to the Bulloch County Board of Education as a bookkeeper, where her attention to detail and warm spirit left a lasting impact. She was a proud supporter of SEB sports, always cheering from the sidelines with enthusiasm and love for her community.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Kathy lit up every room she entered with her radiant smile. She had a servant’s heart and never met a stranger—always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear to anyone in need. One of her most cherished routines was starting each morning with prayers alongside her husband, a daily expression of her deep faith and unwavering devotion to God.

She loved being in nature, often found building fires in the yard or playing fetch with her dog. Kathy was a longtime member of Brooklet First Baptist Church, where her faith continued to shine as a guiding light in her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce Waters and Jewel Akins.

Left to carry on her legacy of love and light are her husband, Steve Waters; her children, Stephen Myers (Holly Myers), Hillary Thompson (Chris Thompson), and Andrew Sparks (Alli Sparks); her stepson, Andrew Waters; her grandsons, Brooks Myers and Henry Thompson; her siblings, Sue Waters, Diane Smith, Kenny Waters (Lisa Waters), and Missy Akins-Shuman (Bruce Shuman); and her beloved German Shepard, Hershel.

A graveside service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Deloach Church Cemetery, with Brother Bob Creech officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. If you or someone you love is struggling, know that you are not alone. There is help, there is hope, and there are people who care. Kathy’s family prays that her story might encourage others to reach out and find the support they need.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
