Jody Davis

Jonathan “Jody” Davis passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the age of 57, in Statesboro, Georgia. Born on August 11, 1967, in Savannah, Georgia, Jody spent his early years in Bryan County before moving to Nevils in 1978, where he would build a life full of hard work, humor, and love. A 1985 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School, Jody went on to become a Georgia-certified licensed electrician, working many years with James Dyal Electric Company.

A true workaholic, Jody was dedicated to his craft and was always quick to lend a hand or offer advice to anyone dealing with electrical issues. Yet, despite his tireless work ethic, he made time for the things he loved — cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, watching NASCAR, and taking to the road on one of his beloved Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He often joked that he owned three Harleys — but the one that cost the most was his daughter, Harley.

On August 11, 1994 — his own birthday — Jody married the love of his life, Kim Denison. He often said the shared date made it easy to remember their anniversary. Together, they built a loving family and life filled with laughter and memories. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Wiseman and Vivian Nell NeSmith Davis, and his sister, Sheri Davis.

Jody is survived by his wife, Kim; their daughter, Harley (Brian) Lane; their son, Ty Davis; and three grandchildren: Justin, Harper, and Tyler. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Terrence and Virginia NeSmith of Nevils.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel.

Jody will be remembered for his big heart, quick wit, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness, laughter, and willingness to help. He will be deeply missed.
