James 'Tom' Thomas Neville

Evans, Ga.

Mr. James (Tom) Thomas Neville was born July 18,1939 and died on Tuesday April 8, 2025. He was 85 years old. Mr. Neville was born in Richmond County Georgia where he was raised in the community of McBean.

He attended school in Hephzibah where he graduated in 1958. Tom loved sports. He played football, baseball and basketball. He was most proud of his football days spent as a running back (#44) for the Hephzibah Rebels. After high school he met the love of his life and in 1959 married Patricia “Patsy” Skinner of Gracewood, Ga. Together they raised 3 children and were happily married for over 65 wonderful years.

In 1959 he also joined the United States Navy Reserves and soon after was stationed in San Diego on the Navy Cruiser USS Rochester. He was honored to be assigned as direct assistant to the ship's Captain and was proud to serve his country. After the Navy, Tom and Patsy relocated to St. Augustine, Florida where he was happily employed at the Fairchild Aircraft facility. Years later, he decided to move the family back home to Augusta, Ga. to begin his journey with the Sherwin Williams Company. He enjoyed a rewarding career and retired at the age of 62 as Regional Sales Manager of the Chemical Coating Division. He appreciated his experiences and lifelong friendships made while working for Sherwin Williams. He held all his friends and memories close to his heart until his final days. Retirement for him included many happy times

playing golf, barbecuing and vacationing at his favorite places in Florida with his family and friends. He was genuinely a happy person that loved to smile, hug, laugh and make people laugh. He was a patriot to his country but most importantly knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He was a previous member of Pine Hill Baptist Church in Hephzibah, Ga. and more recently a member at West Acres Baptist Church in Evans, Ga. He was extremely proud of all his family. He considered time spent with them his most treasured memories. He has 3 Children. 3 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, James “Freck” Glenn Neville and Mable “Granny” Lee Neville and a brother, Richard “Rick” Glenn Neville.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia “Patsy” Neville, daughter, Sandra Dee Ramage “John”, son, Tom Lawton Neville “Debbie”, daughter, Kimberly Lynn McRae “Jimmy”, grandson, Dustin Seth Neville “Ashleigh”, granddaughter, Lindsey Paige Wheat “Jacobe”, grandson, Payton Connor McRae “Emily”, all of Evans, Ga., brother, Harry Lee Neville “Beverly” (Winder, Ga.) niece, Sheree Denise Willis “Pete” (Augusta, Ga.), and sister in law, Maria Lynn Costley (Statesboro, Ga.)

Service and Visitation will be held at West Acres Baptist Church 555 Gibbs Road, Evans, Ga. 30809 in the Worship Center on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. followed by a service with Pastor Malone Morris officiating.
