Dr. Eleanor Ruth Green, age 94, of Statesboro, GA, passed away, Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at her residence.
A native of Chattanooga, TN, Dr. Green valued creativity, independence and athleticism which led her to a doctorate and career in the field of dance. An educator at Georgia Southern University and beyond, she never stopped learning and found fulfillment in genealogical research of her Green and Hamby families. She was a colorful figure in her community and family and made it her mission to promote accountability and transparency at all levels of government.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess L. And Donnie Hamby Green; sisters, Marie McMillian and Barbara Braly; brother, Jess Green Jr.
Aunt Ruthies will be remembered fondly by three generations of nieces and nephews who survive her throughout the southeast.
At her request, there will be no service; however, memorial contributions may be made to the National Wildlife Federation.
