Arthur G. Smith, born in Franklin PA in 1941 to Martha and Howard Smith, he moved to Clearwater, Fl., with his family as a youngster. He was an avid sailor of prams as a boy and crewed competitively in snipes and windmills across the state of Florida and nationally.
After graduating from St Petersburg Jr College, Art joined the Navy spending time on a Sub tender in Rota Spain. He remained in the Navy Reserves for 7 years. Art became a master chip designer and worked for companies in Texas, California, and Washington State. He retired to Statesboro 20 years ago. He loved cars and car racing, college football, and especially enjoyed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is survived by his cats and his sister, Nancy Wright of Metter.
