Alberta Shatteen Dozier

February 2, 1927 - July 4, 2023

Mrs. Alberta Dozier, age 96, entered rest, Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Brightmoor Hospice. She was the daughter of the late Vandlies and Lottie Mae Shatteen.

Alberta had a strong educational foundation that she received through the Bulloch County School System, having graduated from William James High School. After graduation she furthered her education by attending the Savannah Cosmetology School, where she obtained her cosmetology license.

During her educational journey in Savannah, Alberta met and married Eddie Dozier, who was stationed at Hunter Army Air Force Base. Their union was blessed with two children, Maria Antoinette, and Anthony.
Mrs. Dozier’s professional journey was one of profound impact and selflessness. She dedicated her career to assisting special needs students by working tirelessly for the Florida State Department.

She was a dedicated member of the Greater New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Miami, Florida until her health declined, leading her to relocate to Statesboro, Georgia. In her final years, she found comfort and care in the Atlanta area, residing in a personal care home owned by her loving nephew and his wife.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, her husband, Ed Dozier, her children, Antoinette Dozier, and Anthony Dozier; brothers, Nathaniel Shatteen, Vandlies Shatteen, Jr., and George Harold Shatteen; a sister, Almaritta Shatteen-Holmes.

She leaves a legacy of love to be cherished by, her brother, Shirlee (Mildred) Shatteen, Atlanta, Ga, a grandson, Shanell McDaniel, Miami, Fl, great grandchildren, Ginata’e McDaniel, Miami, Fl, and Anthony McDaniel, Statesboro, Ga., her nephew, Shelton (Salina) Shatteen, Atlanta, Ga, nieces, Sherrilyn (Daryl) Boston, Atlanta, and Daphne (Ronnie) Shatteen-Jones, Nashville, Tn., a sister/cousin, Gladys (Sunny) Easley, Nashville, Tn, 3 great nieces, 2 great nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.

A family visitation will be held, from 7 pm to 8 pm, Friday, July 7, 2023, at the funeral home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Alberta Dozier will be held, 1:30 pm, Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the chapel of Hill’s Mortuary, Inc., with the Rev. S. Maurice Hill, officiating. Burial will be held in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Final rites have been entrusted to Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
