YMCA hosting 'Spooktacular' Movie Events in October

Starting October 6th, the Statesboro Family YMCA will host outdoor movie nights every Friday in October. The SPOOKTACULAR movie series includes Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, and Nightmare Before Christmas.

Gates opens at 6pm for families to grab their spots and participate in pre-movie activities such as Halloween crafts and games. Concessions will be available with an “All you can Eat” ticket for $7 a person, or $25 for family of four. Concessions include popcorn, drinks, hot dogs, and candy.

Costumes are encouraged but not required. There will be seating available, but  feel free to bring a picnic blanket.

The upcoming movie series is a fundraiser for the Y’s A Place to Dream Program. In partnership with the Housing Authority of Statesboro and Emergency Training LLC, the program provides children with a twin-size bed frame, mattress and pillow, complete linen set, a gift bag with a story book, Bible, and a stuffed animal. In December of 2022, the program expanded to Statesboro with the delivery of 10 bed sets, gift bags, and a bag of food items from Statesboro’s TMT Farms. This year the Statesboro Family YMCA has a goal of 20 beds delivered to children in Bulloch County.

All proceeds for the Spooktacular Movie Event in October will go towards the 20 bed goal, which Statesboro YMCA hopes to achieve.
