Register, GA – A major traffic incident involving an overturned tractor-trailer caused a significant road closure on Highway 46 at Kennedy Bridge Road in Register, Bulloch County, on Monday afternoon. The incident, which occurred around 1:30 PM on March 10, 2025, resulted in a road closure lasting over three hours.
According to reports, a Bulloch County Sheriff's Deputy, while on routine patrol along Highway 46, came upon the scene of the accident and immediately requested assistance from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Bulloch County Fire Rescue, and Bulloch County Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
GSP Post 45 Master Trooper Chris Cuddington, who assisted in the investigation, revealed that a pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer carrying over 50,000 pounds of scrap steel. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to veer off the shoulder of the road and overturn onto its side, completely blocking the roadway.
The sheer weight of the tractor-trailer and its precarious position necessitated a full road closure while specialized equipment was brought in to safely remove the vehicle and its cargo. The complex recovery operation took several hours to complete.
Bulloch County EMS evaluated one of the drivers at the scene. The individual reported non-life-threatening injuries but declined transportation to the hospital.
The incident caused significant traffic disruptions for motorists traveling along Highway 46. Authorities worked diligently to clear the scene and reopen the roadway as quickly as possible.
