Suspect in Bobby Donaldson Ave. shooting surrenders

Akeino Dickerson, the individual wanted for the October 23, 2024 shooting on Bobby Donaldson Avenue in Statesboro, surrendered himself to the Screven County Sheriff’s Office on October 27. Dickerson was transported back to the Bulloch County Jail where he is currently housed awaiting further judicial action.

Dickerson is charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of Cocaine.

On October 23, 2024 at 8:50pm, Statesboro Police Department officers responded to the area of Bobby Donaldson Avenue in Statesboro for a female who had been shot. Officers located the 24-year-old female victim and rendered aid until she could be transported by EMS to East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

The victim was later flown to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, where she was treated and released. Detectives responded and determined that the female had been shot by her former boyfriend, Akeino Dickerson (41, Statesboro).

A search warrant was served at Dickerson’s residence in the area by SPD’s SWAT Team, and vital evidence was recovered by detectives in the subsequent search. Dickerson was not found at that location at the time.
