Ever been on Fair Road in Statesboro and wondered why in the world there is always a sign up cautioning traffic in the right lane that traffic may stop? That's for Dunkin' Donuts fans and the Popeyes chicken lovers out there.
Rest assured, a new Dunkin’ is opening on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 8:00 am, making their way to Hwy. 80 East, bringing more options to the growing area near Texas Roadhouse and beside Anderson's General Store. Both establishments are expected to cater to increasing local demand.
The original Dunkin' is located on Fair Road, and the second Dunkin' is located inside the Super Walmart on Northside Drive East.
This expansion is part of a wave of development in the area. The two new restaurants will join a cluster of previously anticipated establishments like Jim ‘N Nick’s, Texas Roadhouse, and Five Guys, which if you haven't noticed, have been getting a lot of attention this year.
Tiku and Lisa Schroff, the owners of the new Dunkin’ and Popeyes, are no strangers to the restaurant scene in Statesboro. Mrs. Schroff expressed her excitement about being located on this side of town, noting the strong demand from both corporate stakeholders and the community. With a standalone Dunkin’ and a new Popeyes on Hwy. 80 East, the Schroffs aim to ease congestion at the Fair Road locations and meet the area's growing demand.
The new Dunkin’ is one of the chain’s modern models, featuring a convenient tap-to-order system for faster service. They are planing a grand opening celebration in January 2025, including giveaways to celebrate the occasion.
Construction on the neighboring Popeyes is moving quickly, with an opening anticipated within the next week. This will mark the second Popeyes in Statesboro, following the fully renovated Fair Road location.
The development doesn’t stop there. Next to the upcoming Popeyes, construction is set to begin in late January for a Newk’s Eatery: a fast and casual dining option that offers salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and more. Mrs. Schroff compared it to its parent restaurant, McAlister's Deli.
