The Statesboro Regional Art Association (SRAA) is hosting a special auction featuring a wide array of handcrafted items, all in support of the inaugural Statesboro Festival of the Arts, set to debut in March 2025.
The auction, which includes contributions donated by local artists, offers a chance to bid on unique pieces such as paintings, jewelry, crochet items, woodcrafts, ceramics, and more.
The auction items are on display at the Rosengart Gallery, located at 41 West Main St. in downtown Statesboro. Visitors can view the collection in person during the gallery’s operating hours: Wednesday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. While there, you can also purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a painting.
For those unable to visit in person, the auction is accessible online at Givebutter Auction. Bidding will end on September 6 at 7pm.
All proceeds from this silent auction will directly benefit the planning and execution of the Statesboro Festival of the Arts. The festival, which has been in development for over a year, will be held at the Market at Visit Statesboro and the Visit Statesboro parking lot. The event will offer a blend of entertainment and educational experiences, featuring live music, a juried art contest with cash prizes across multiple categories, and a growing list of local artists and vendors.
The festival’s mission is to cultivate a vibrant and inclusive arts community in Statesboro, fostering appreciation and understanding of both traditional and contemporary artistic expression. By providing accessible and enriching educational experiences, the festival aims to bring together artists and audiences in a shared celebration of artistic diversity, contributing to Statesboro’s evolution as a hub for the arts.
The founding committee members of the Statesboro Festival of the Arts include Kim Riner, Robert Faller, Allen Muldrew, Elena McLendon, Dr. Anna Brady, Jason McCoy, Jeff Garland, Marcy Simmons, Becky Davis, Justin Samples, Shari Barr, Olympia Gaines, and Landon Haralson.
The SRAA plays a crucial role in bringing together local artists and art enthusiasts who share a passion for the visual arts. The organization is dedicated to establishing and maintaining a coalition of arts within Statesboro, the surrounding region, and the State of Georgia. Through programs, workshops, art displays, and social events, the SRAA supports the growth of the arts community.
Monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Roxie Remley Visual Arts building, located at 31 E. Vine St. Visitors are always welcome, and artists working in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional media are encouraged to attend and connect with fellow artists.
