A fire caused significant damage to a residence in the 100 block of Church Street on Friday morning, February 21, 2025.
At 11:29 a.m., Bulloch County 911 received a call reporting a house fire, prompting an immediate response from both the Statesboro Fire Department and the Bulloch County Fire Department. Upon arrival, the first Statesboro Fire engine reported moderate smoke emanating from the structure and quickly requested additional resources.
Statesboro firefighters launched an aggressive attack on the blaze and successfully brought it under control within minutes. Despite the rapid response, the home sustained significant smoke and fire damage.
Fortunately, all occupants of the residence were able to escape unharmed.
The quick action of firefighters was crucial in containing the fire and preventing further damage.
In the aftermath of the fire, Bulloch County VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster), Statesboro Fire CAFE, and the Red Cross have stepped in to offer temporary assistance to the displaced residents.
A routine cause and origin investigation will be conducted to determine the source of the fire.
The Statesboro Police Department also responded to the scene to manage traffic and crowd control, while Bulloch County EMS paramedics were on standby as a precautionary measure.
The incident serves as a reminder to the community to ensure they have working smoke detectors and to practice fire safety.
