Statesboro Fire Department to host smoke alarm blitz March 29

Statesboro Fire Department Smoke Alarm Blitz

The Statesboro Fire Department will host a smoke alarm blitz on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The blitz, originally scheduled for October 2024, was canceled due to Hurricane Helene. The rescheduled event will take place in the area of Kingswood Avenue, Lydia Lane, and Wilburn Circle. Residents can expect firefighters and Red Cross volunteers to come door-to-door and offer smoke alarm installations.

The Smoke Alarm Blitz, part of the department's ongoing fire safety campaign, provides free smoke alarm installations and fire safety education to households in the community.

“The Statesboro Fire Department remains dedicated to serving Statesboro and the greater Bulloch community and enhancing public safety,” says Statesboro Fire Chief Tim Grams. “We encourage residents to take advantage of this free program and ensure their homes have the necessary safety equipment.”

In addition to neighborhood blitzes, the Statesboro Fire Department offers free smoke detector installation to residents located within the city limits of Statesboro or the department’s Five Mile Service District outside the city limits. The department also has a limited supply of free smoke detectors on hand to provide to residents unable to purchase detectors due to circumstantial hardships. This essential program ensures that every household in Statesboro can access life-saving smoke detectors, regardless of their financial status.

Residents are encouraged to follow the Statesboro Fire Department’s social media channels for the latest events and news.
