For decades Statesboro’s Kathy Spivey has been quietly beautifying the Boro and making our home town shine in small but incredible ways. Of course, she is a student of the master decorator and epic hostess of Statesboro, Patsy Bobo and is part of a small group who keeps Christmas traditions that Patsy began alive in the Boro. Today, I caught up with Kathy putting the finishing touches on Synovus downtown Christmas decorations. She and her team of Christmas elves have been working hard to get Synovus and downtown ready for the largest, best and final Farmers Market of the year, hosted in the Synovus parking lot. Shopping by Lantern Light began by Debra Chester, who also had the vision of starting the Statesboro Farmer’s Market 19 years ago.
Shopping by Lantern Light serves as Statesboro’s official kick-off the holiday season. This year marks the 10th Annual Shopping by Lantern Light. Browse over 50 booths for Thanksgiving goodies like fresh produce, cakes, pies, meats and casseroles plus you can begin your holiday gift buying early! There will be a huge selection of fine art, crafts, jewelry, soaps, candles, and more! Enjoy live music by the Tall Paul Band while you shop, eat, and mingle at the last Market of the 2018 season.
Come out tomorrow night and enjoy this fun, festive way to begin your Thanksgiving holiday.
