Rotary District Governor Todd Freesemann applauds Statesboro clubs for global impact

Rotary District Governor Todd Freesemann speaking to the Downtown Rotary Club of Statesboro

Both Rotary Clubs of Statesboro had a special guest last week when Rotary District Governor Todd Freesemann dropped by to share his praise and updates. Freesemann, who has an impressive background in military service and law enforcement, commended the clubs for living up to Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self."

During his visit, he highlighted some of the impactful projects Rotary is involved in, both locally and around the world.

From community outreach here in Statesboro to international efforts, like their push to eradicate polio, the work has been impressive. One story that really stood out was the temporary ceasefire in the Israel/Hamas conflict to allow for the immunization of children. It's moments like these where Rotary's commitment to global service truly shines.

Freesemann’s own journey with Rotary has been just as dedicated. He joined the West Chatham-Pooler Rotary Club back in 2004 and has held leadership roles ever since, including Club President and Assistant Governor.

He's a big supporter of the Rotary Foundation and has even hosted international students through Rotary’s various exchange programs. With a military career that took him around the world—including to places like Korea, Honduras, Iraq, and Israel—Freesemann's passion for service has only grown stronger over the years.

Now retired from the military, Freesemann serves as a Commander at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. He’s still just as involved in Rotary, helping guide clubs like ours toward making a difference, whether it’s in our backyard or across the globe.

The Rotary Clubs of Statesboro definitely left an impression on him, and it’s clear our members are doing big things!
