Statesboro Police Department (SPD) officers were surprised this week when they witnessed a man climbing a security fence at the SPD headquarters on Grady street in downtown Statesboro.
According to Mike Broadhead, Statesboro Police Chief, around 7:51 am, Wednesday, February 15, 2023 an SPD officer observed a man standing outside the security fence. The man who appeared to be looking inside an open door to an out building on the campus of the headquarters.
This out building is where SPD keep tools like string trimmers, chain saws, etc. It has a roll up garage door which was open at the time the officer observed the man.
Moments later officers observed the man climbing over the fence and began making his way to the open door of the out building.
Officers made contact with him outside the building, but inside the secured perimeter of the police headquarters. They arrested Wardale Cosper, 35 with a Statesboro address and charged him with criminal trespass.
This proves that no unlocked building is safe from folks looking to rob you. Even when that building is inside the secured campus of the police headquarters.
