Local collaboration brings magical adventure 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' to Statesboro stage

The Averitt Center, Georgia Southern, and Statesboro High are working together to bring Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to the local stage. This summer, they are excited to present their live theater production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang -- a fantastic, high-flying family experience!

The Averitt Center teamed up with Georgia Southern University's Opera Department and Statesboro High School to bring you the best local performances of this play, complete with lively musical numbers, thrilling scenes, and a heartwarming sense of nostalgia.

Show Dates are July 26th, 27th, and 28th, 2024. Shows start at 7:00pm on Friday and at 3:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.

A little bit about the show

An eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children, Jeremy and Jemima. They soon discover the car has magical properties, including the ability to float and take flight.

Trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself. The family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious and batty Grandpa Potts to outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness and their villainous henchman, the Child Catcher.

Filled with amazing stage spectacle and unforgettable songs, including the Academy Award-nominated title song, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a high-flying, fun-filled adventure for the entire family.
