The Georgia ABLE Program Corporation (GAPC) has launched the new Georgia STABLE/Path2College Matching Scholarship initiative. Georgia’s 529 ABLE Plan (Georgia STABLE) and Georgia’s Path2College 529 Savings Plan (P2C) are partnering to offer matching scholarships up to $2,500 for eligible students with disabilities who open or contribute to their Georgia STABLE accounts.
Matching scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis for new or existing Georgia STABLE account owners. To be eligible to receive a matching scholarship, applicants must open or have a Georgia STABLE account for ABLE eligible beneficiaries ages 18 and under.
Recipients of these matching scholarships may receive a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $2,500 in net contributions made to their Georgia STABLE account until December 31, 2023.
This matching scholarship program reflects our commitment to fostering a brighter future for a range of individuals living with various disabilities and their families,” said Kevin Tanner, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities and a member of the GAPC board. “By investing in education, the program is creating incentives that lead to cultivating opportunities and build on a sense of empowerment.”
“The goal for this matching scholarship initiative is to create synergy between the Georgia STABLE Plan and Georgia’s Path2College 529 Savings Plan by encouraging families having children with disabilities to save for future educational expenses,” said State Treasurer Steve McCoy, who is also the administrator of the GAPC board.
