GAME PREVIEW: Eagles head to Coastal for crucial game

Two games left in regular season.

The Georgia Southern football team hits the road for the final time in the regular season as it looks to rebound against Coastal Carolina Saturday afternoon at Brooks Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:32 p.m. and the game will be carried on ESPN+. The game will also be available via radio on the Georgia Southern Sports Network. Here's all you need to know about the game:

Of Note:

  • This will be the 11th football meeting between Southern and Coastal in a series that dates back to 2006. The Eagles lead the series 6-4 after winning 38-28 last year at home.
  • The Eagles are 3-4 all-time at Brooks Stadium after falling to Ohio in last year's Myrtle Beach Bowl. Georgia Southern has not won at Brooks Stadium since 2018, has dropped three straight and head coach Clay Helton is 0-2 at Brooks Stadium.
  • The Chants had won the previous three games against GS before the Eagles won at home last season. In the previous two games between the two schools played in Conway, CCU won 34-30 (2022) and 28-14 (2020).
  • Georgia Southern has lost four games this season but has rebounded to win a road game the next week each time. The Eagles lost to Boise and then won at Nevada; lost at Ole Miss and then won at Georgia State; lost at Old Dominion and then won at South Alabama; and are coming off a loss to Troy with a road game at Coastal Carolina this week.
  • The Eagles are 69-28 against teams from the Palmetto State and are 27-16 all-time in games played in South Carolina.
