The downtown Christmas Festival event kicked off with the much-anticipated Christmas Parade a little after 4:00pm. Local groups, businesses, and organizations came together to spread holiday joy, with floats, music, and festive decorations. Mr. and Mrs. Claus made a special appearance, delighting children and adults alike as they waved to the crowd.
Like every great Statesboro downtown event, East and West Main were filled with families in the Christmas spirit. After the parade, the crowd walked down the street to browse through all the vendors for different arts, crafts, and of course delicious foods that these events have to offer.
Not only was fire pits provided to help the people stay warm, but we were also treated to some live music. If you walked by city hall, you would've heard the Christmas songs you know and love with a twist.
Over at the Averitt Center, Mr. Claus and Mrs. Claus were greeting children and taking pictures. The kids had to go ahead and let them know what they were expecting under the tree in a few weeks. After the kids got that off their chest, they probably found themselves at the bouncy house. If they weren't on the bouncy house, then they were enjoying the hayride.
For those who stayed toward the end of the night, a Christmas movie was played on the big screen inflatable. Overall, a short and sweet Christmas get-together for Statesboro, and we hope everyone has happy holidays!
