The second annual Spirit & Sparkle Holiday Market took place on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9am to 12pm at Statesboro High School. Due to the rainy weather, the market -- previously held in the student parking lot -- was moved inside the Statesboro High School lunchroom.

The community project organized by the SHS FCCLA chapter featured local vendors with various items and trinkets for local shopping. The event also had musical performances by local elementary school students and theatrical scenes by high school drama students.

Kids' Zone activities such as bouncy houses and the Bulloch County Book Bus were still available to children as fun activities, and a festive Santa's workshop was set up by the student volunteers for children to make ornaments and reindeer food and write a letter to Santa.

Evan Price Photography offered photos with Santa for a $5 donation to the cause.

Shoppers were also asked to consider participating in the SHS FCCLA community service project, which consisted of a donation station being set up at the event to collect gently used or new men’s, women’s, and children’s shoes. All collected items are to be sent to various organizations in need.

Ava Mincey, SHS student and FCCLA member, organized the event and was also a participating vendor with her Ava's Lemonade stand

"This is a student-held event held and sponsored by the Statesboro High FCCLA," Mincey shared. "A highlight for us this year has been seeing the Langston Chapel Elementary School choir perform earlier and seeing the many vendors here to support our fundraising efforts for a good cause and for our nationals."
