Friends of the Library Bookstore to celebrate 3rd anniversary with sale

The Friends of the Library Bookstore at 6 Proctor St. in Statesboro

Celebrate The Friends of the Library Bookstore’s 3rd Anniversary this Saturday, October 19, from 9am to 1pm. For the anniversary sale, shopping bags will be given to customers to fill up for $5. Refreshments will also be served.

The bookstore opened it doors the first weekend in October three years ago. Since then, the bookstore has become a favorite in the community, with its wide selection of used books.

The Friends of the Library is also kicking off their 2025 membership drive during the event. Michele Giddens, Manager of the Statesboro Market2Go, generously donated $5 market tokens for the first 20 new or renewing members.

Free book totes were also donated by Synovus, Queensborough, and Morris banks.

Pat Homer of FOL shared that the building that houses the bookstore is currently up for sale, and as of now, they do not have an alternative location should they have to move.

Homer shared, that for the last three years, “Mr. Joe McGlamery has generously allowed us to be in the building rent free.”

The Friends of the Library, founded over 30 years ago, previously held book sales inside the Statesboro Regional Library as a way to raise money for the library.
