FREE human resource development workshop for nonprofit's Dec. 12th

United Way of Southeast Georgia, the Department of Public and Nonprofit Studies of Georgia Southern University, and Bulloch Solutions have partnered to facilitate a Nonprofit Leadership Workshop series to build capacity of nonprofit organizations in Statesboro and Bulloch County to achieve their missions, respond to community needs, produce meaningful change in the community, and improve the quality of life for residents of Bulloch County.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, the organizations will host their third workshop series – Human Resource Development. This session will provide topics such as recruiting and retaining employees with skills and commitment to the mission, determining fair compensation, training and professional development of employees, and building a positive work culture. Attendees will meet at Bulloch Solutions (841 Buckhead Drive) on Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 8:45 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The presenter, Dr. Candice Bodkin, is an assistant professor in the Department of Public and Nonprofit Studies at Georgia Southern where she teaches courses in diversity in public organizations and human resource management for current and future nonprofit professionals. She received her Ph.D. in Public Administration from North Carolina State University.

Bodkin's research interests include human resource management with a concentration on mentoring and career development. She has presented her research at and is a member of the Academy of Management (AOM), the Association for Research on Nonprofits Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA), the Public Management Research Conference (PMRC), American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), and the Southeastern Conference of Public Administration (SECOPA).
