Upon arrival, the first fire engine on the scene reported heavy smoke billowing from the eaves of the structure and requested additional units and personnel. Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack, successfully knocking down the fire in a short amount of time.

Crews remained on-site for several hours to extinguish hot spots and conduct a thorough overhaul of the building to prevent reignation.

As firefighters worked, Statesboro police officers closed a portion of East Main Street to ensure public safety. Bulloch County EMS also responded as a precautionary measure, but no injuries were reported.
