A family of seven was displaced after a house fire in the 100 block of Oak Hollow Drive on Tuesday night, December 17, 2024.
Bulloch County 911 dispatched the Statesboro and Bulloch County Fire Departments to the scene at 8:56 p.m. following reports of fire and smoke inside the home. Upon arrival, the first responding engineer observed heavy smoke coming from the eaves and requested additional firefighters and engines to assist.
Fortunately, the family managed to escape the home unharmed.
Firefighters launched an aggressive attack on the blaze, which is believed to have originated in the kitchen area. The fire was quickly knocked down; however, the home sustained significant fire, smoke, and water damage.
In the aftermath, Statesboro Fire CAFE, Bulloch VOAD, and the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) arrived on-site to provide the family with immediate assistance, including temporary shelter and other essential support. Fostering Bulloch Hope Chest will be providing additional support and will help determine any unmet immediate needs.
