Local musician, Chyann Rose, released her new single “The Tree” on June 23rd.
Chyann was born and raised in Statesboro. Her mother owned a dance studio in Brooklet, while her father works in education. As a child, she danced at her mother’s studio and was already well acquainted with performing when her career as a musician took off.
Like many small-town musicians, Chyann started out by singing in her church choir before moving onto festivals, and even took part in a School of Rock program hosted by a local music store.
At just 13-years-old, she played her first paid gig at popular Statesboro restaurant Loco’s Grill and Pub. She dipped her toe into songwriting at 15.
Now, at 23, she happily admits that her professional music career is a decade old. With four original songs out, “The Tree,” which was released on June 23rd, brings her total number of original songs to five.
“This song is different. It’s the first one I wrote totally by myself, and my friend actually inspired me to write it,” Chyann said, “I was at a songwriting camp, and I had absolutely no idea what to write. I had drawn a complete blank when my friend pointed to a tree, and told me to write about what made that tree different from the others.”
Aaron Aycox, of Barnpost Media in Augusta, Georgia, recorded and produced the song.
“With Aaron, I really appreciated being involved in the entirety of production. It’s not like I just went in and laid the vocal tracks. I was able to have my thoughts and opinions in the production process, so this song is really special to me.” Chyann said.
