The Boro Chili Fest, a popular local event formerly known as “Chili Town,” is set to take place at the Statesboro Farmers Market on December 6, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The annual chili cook-off, organized this year to benefit the Humane Society of Statesboro and Bulloch County, will feature a variety of activities for all ages. Attendees can look forward to free face painting, pictures with Santa, and complimentary chili tastings from a range of competitors.
Participants in the chili cook-off are encouraged to bring 5-7 gallons of chili and set up their booths by 4:30 p.m. Judging will begin at 5 p.m., and samples will be provided for attendees to vote on their favorite entries, with $1 per vote.
Awards will be given for categories such as Overall Best Chili, Best Decorated Booth, People’s Choice, and Best Restaurant Chili.
Local vendors will also be present, offering goods and treats for attendees. Sponsors for this year’s fest include Statesboro Properties and Georgia Power. All proceeds from the event will go toward supporting the Humane Society’s mission in the community.
For those interested in entering the cook-off, registrations are open until November 26. For more information or to register, participants can reach out via email at hssbcdonations@gmail.com or call (912) 484-0038.
