May is Mental Health Awareness month, and Tuesday evening's event at the Georgia Southern Botanic Garden highlighted the efforts of The Camilla Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides feel counseling to the underserved youth of Bulloch County.

Tables of different therapy approaches were set up, and licensed counselors were on hand to explain how therapy is provided to the children using creative mediums.

The butterfly garden represented the number of children The Camilla Foundation has served since its inception over two years ago, which totals over 700.

Music was provided by Greg Meredith, Raven Oyagha, Omozeh, and Delante A'dai. Omozeh (Perris Oyagha), one of The Camilla Foundation's first licensed counselors, came back to Statesboro to provide a meaningful musical backdrop to the quaint ambiance.

Guest speakers included Julianna Leverette, who also writes for Grice Connect. She spoke about her own experiences and the importance of mental health for the youth of Statesboro, the surrounding areas, and beyond.

The Camilla Foundation relies largely on the donations of benefactors to continue to provide vital emotional skills to our children.
