Bulloch County waking up to road closures and power outages from TS Debby

A moment of calmness in Downtown Statesboro at 5:00 am Tuesday, August 6, 2024

TS Debby has brought high winds and rain to Bulloch County overnight.  Bulloch County Sheriff's Deputies and Bulloch County Public Works have worked through the night to clear trees from roadways and report on water over roadways.

The last road closure report by Bulloch County EMA around midnight Monday included over 20 road closures.  This list is a very fluid list and is predicted to increase as daylight hour approach. Several major roads are flooded.

One citizen was seriously injured after a tree fell on her car while driving on Cypress Lake Road last night.

Public safety is asking citizens to remain sheltered in place this morning and only travel if necessary.

North wind 14 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Wednesday

A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Northwest wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
